Engagement

Having first engaged with Paul Carter a number of years back, we have worked together to place a few members of his team. Most recently, this was an M&A Manager role, however, previously this was at Director level.

The Company

London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) is an international markets infrastructure business. Its diversified global business focuses on capital formation, intellectual property and risk and balance sheet management. LSEG operates an open access model, offering choice and partnership to customers across all of its businesses. Whilst headquartered in the United Kingdom, it has significant operations in North America, Italy, France and Sri Lanka, amongst other countries.

Situation

LSEG were working towards three main strategic objectives; to drive global growth, develop customer partnership approach and deliver best-in-class capabilities. In order to drive global growth, the Head of needed an individual who was able to lead deals from end-to-end autonomously, with strong modelling skills, and able to interact with multiple advisors and stakeholders with ease.

Solution

Due to the specifications from LSEG, the need for someone who could run a range of sized deals, as well as the need for core accounting knowledge, the candidates needed a strong baseline knowledge of finance, and to hold an ACA from one of the Big4. This was followed by ideally some corporate finance experience, or an individual from an in-house team, already experiencing a broader role.

We mapped the market for candidates with the desired skillset targeting Big4 CF TMT teams, to increase sector understanding. Due to our unique position in the market, PCR has an extensive and regular network of in-house and vetted candidates from a number of similar businesses that allowed a transferable skillset.

Whilst liaising with both HR and Paul's PA with regards to timeframes and availability, we held three rounds of interviews with the successful candidate having spent their career in-house within the FS/tech sector. The nature of our approach and knowledge of the market allowed us to manage candidate's expectations from start to finish. Following this success, we also went on to place a more junior member of the team for LSEG.
