Financial Services Drinks & Networking Evening; Reflections from MYO St Paul’s

Back to Blogs

Last week, we were delighted to host our Financial Services Drinks & Networking event at MYO St Paul’s, an evening that brought together professionals from across private equity, financial services and the advisory community.

It was fantastic to see so many of our clients, partners and friends in the room, all contributing to what became a lively and insightful evening of discussion, connections and shared perspectives.

Our co-founder, Charles Phipps, was joined by Peter Blanc, Global Head of M&A at Howden, for a fireside chat exploring M&A within financial services: what still works.

Peter shared his experience leading some of the sector’s most notable deals, offering candid reflections on the evolution of consolidation, the role of private equity, and what drives value creation in today’s market.

Some of the key themes explored included:

  • The changing M&A landscape: how the traditional “buy and build” models have matured, and what’s driving value in the current environment.

  • Private equity’s evolving role: how investors are bringing greater discipline to growth and integration, while supporting entrepreneurial management teams.

  • Cultural alignment and leadership:why people, values and leadership continuity remain at the heart of every successful transaction.

  • Looking ahead: opportunities for consolidation across the UK and Europe, and why agility and client-centric models will shape the next wave of growth.

We were also pleased to hear from Lea Evers, who introduced our new Board & Executive Advisory service — designed to help clients strengthen leadership capability, enhance governance, and support value creation strategies at board level.

It was a great opportunity to reconnect with many familiar faces and to welcome new ones to the Phipps Cameron network.

If you missed the event, or would like to revisit some of the key moments, you can watch the highlights video below.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the evening such a success. We look forward to seeing you at future events.
